Mary Austin, President of BoldAge PACE, accepts the Judy Baskins Volunteer Leadership Award at the National PACE Association’s Annual Conference in Denver, Colo., on Oct. 13, 2026. Austin was recognized for her leadership in expanding access to PACE services for older adults.
“Mary has spent her career believing in what older adults are capable of when they are given the right care and the right support. This award reflects what everyone who has worked alongside her already knows: she is one of the most committed and effective advocates PACE has ever had. We are proud to see her recognized by her peers, and even prouder to call her our President,” said Glenn Steigbigel, Chief Executive Officer of BoldAge PACE.
The NPA Awards Program recognizes members, volunteers, and elected officials who champion the growth of the PACE model. The Judy Baskins Volunteer Leadership Award is among the organization’s most meaningful honors, reserved for leaders whose work has helped more older adults age with dignity and independence at home.
PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) provides complete, coordinated care that brings head-to-toe medical coverage, free transportation, a vibrant activities center, and support at home, all coordinated by one care team. The model is designed for older adults who qualify for nursing home level of care but choose to remain safely and independently in their own homes. PACE is covered by Medicare and Medicaid, and many families pay nothing out of pocket.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Judy Baskins Volunteer Leadership Award. PACE has been my life’s work, and the people I’ve met along the way, the participants, the families, and the colleagues who show up every day, are what make this field so extraordinary. There is still so much more to do, and I am grateful to keep doing it,” said Austin.
