GREENWOOD, SC – November 05, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Robert’s Body Shop & Wrecker Service LLC is explaining the repairs vehicles may need after deer strikes as deer breeding season peaks. According to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the peak runs from mid-October through mid-November. The shop says the extent of the damage helps determine the collision repair timeline, so an inspection is the first step in identifying the repairs needed.
Roughly 4,100 deer-related collisions had been reported statewide this year by late October, according to Highway Patrol numbers cited by WMBF News. WRDW News reported that South Carolina has logged more than 6,000 such collisions in each completed year from 2021 through 2025. Almost half of the roughly 6,500 incidents in 2025 occurred between October and December, the station added.

WRDW News reported that most deer-vehicle collisions occur from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wildlife officials cited by the station advise drivers to brake and stay in their lane rather than swerve. If a collision is unavoidable, they say maintaining control reduces the risk of a more serious crash.
AAA advises drivers not to approach a deer after a collision, since injured animals can be unpredictable. The organization recommends photographing the scene when it is safe to do so and filing a police report. It also advises contacting an insurer as soon as possible.
South Carolina Department of Natural Resources tables built from Department of Public Safety reports show that Greenwood County recorded between 95 and 123 deer-vehicle collisions annually from 2021 through 2024. In 2024, neighboring Laurens County recorded 147, compared with 58 in Abbeville County. The 2024 figures are preliminary, and the tables include only reported collisions.
Robert’s Body Shop reports that it follows original equipment manufacturer repair procedures for all makes and models. According to the shop, the first step is an inspection and estimate meant to identify both visible and hidden damage. The shop adds that structural work comes before cosmetic work.
Collision repair and auto body repair often overlap after a deer strike, since a vehicle may need both structural repairs and exterior panel work. An inspection helps determine whether the damage is limited to a scuffed bumper cover or also affects underlying components or the vehicle’s structure.
Robert’s Body Shop offers paintless dent repair for minor collision dents when appropriate. Its technicians reshape the damaged metal from behind the panel without sanding or body filler, preserving the factory finish.
Parts availability can also affect scheduling, even when the damage appears minor. Replacement components may need to be ordered, and backorders can extend the time a vehicle remains in the shop.
For panels requiring refinishing, Robert’s Body Shop uses color-matching technology to blend the repaired area with the vehicle’s original paint. Its painting process includes surface preparation and priming for adhesion, followed by paint application in a controlled environment. A protective clear coat provides the finishing layer.
Robert’s Body Shop also includes a final inspection in its collision repair process to check completed work against its safety and quality standards.
