Samsara Inc. (“Samsara”) (NYSE: IOT), the pioneer of the Connected Operations® Platform, today announced the launch of Samsara Agent Studio, a no-code AI agent platform designed specifically for physical operations. Adoption on Samsara’s platform has accelerated 7x since June as customers expand AI from automating reports and uncovering fuel savings to anticipating compliance risk and reaching drivers through voice.

Agents built for knowledge work can wait for a prompt. In physical operations, much of the work is already moving, requiring agents to understand what’s happening in real time — and be smart enough to take action. Samsara provides that context through more than a decade of operational data on vehicles, equipment, workers, and sites including location, video, diagnostics, behavior, and environmental conditions, from customers across industries and geographies. Agent Studio turns that context into action, giving customers prebuilt AI agents and a builder for custom chat and voice agents tailored to their operations. Now available to all customers, it makes Samsara the first platform for physical operations to offer both.
“AI is quickly adopted when it’s useful, and in physical operations that means an agent has to understand the operation and meet people where the work happens,” said Johan Land, Chief Product Officer at Samsara. “In the back office that might happen through chat. On the road, it happens through a phone call. That is what brings an agent to life in the real world.”
From automating reports to anticipating risk
Agents built in Agent Studio are taking on work that once required hours of manual analysis or a dedicated specialist. Reporting is where many customers start, but adoption is quickly expanding into more complex work — finding opportunities to reduce fuel costs, predicting compliance risk before a violation occurs, diagnosing the cause of operational issues, and giving drivers immediate access to company-specific guidance.
That expansion is also happening within individual organizations. Deployed use cases include:
- Inspection and compliance reporting. Grand Isle Shipyard’s agent compiles forms, inspection reports, and asset data into a monthly report in about five minutes per division, a 99% reduction in report generation time that returns roughly $100,000 a year in specialist capacity to the team.
- Predictive compliance. S. Bertram Foods’ agent tracks remaining stops, drive time, and shift time to flag hours-of-service risk three hours before it becomes a violation, cutting weekly manual review time by 84%.
- Driver identification. StreamTech Industrial’s agent identifies every trip where a driver has not logged in, reducing unassigned drive time by 500 hours in two months.
- Fuel efficiency. A leading North American passenger transit provider’s agent analyzes idle time to distinguish fuel waste caused by driver behavior from regeneration cycles, maintenance, and weather, so managers know which vehicles to act on and why.
- Company-specific driver support. A major food distributor built a Driver Wingman agent that answers new drivers’ questions about parking, personal conveyance rules, and fuel stops from the company’s own policies, in seconds and at any hour.
“We were spending more than six figures a year on reporting and data compilation, work that’s now fully automated,” said Derek Champagne, VP of Corporate Security, Asset Management & Housing at Grand Isle Shipyard. “The real benefit isn’t just efficiency; it’s the ability to focus our people on solving bigger problems, driving innovation, and creating value that simply wasn’t possible before.”
Voice becomes the primary interface for frontline workers
In physical operations, AI and its workers cannot depend on a screen to get a job done. A driver has their eyes on the road; a utility crew is repairing power lines. Voice gives agents an interface built for those environments — allowing workers to ask questions, receive instructions, and share information without stepping away from the work.
Customers are building agents that make and take phone calls, bringing live operational information and company-specific guidance into those conversations and extending support beyond the hours an office team can cover.
That can turn a physical event into an AI-powered workflow. When a truck crosses a geofence around an unfamiliar job site or distribution center, for example, a voice agent can immediately call the driver with site-specific instructions — which entrance to use, where to park, the yard speed limit and required safety equipment. The driver can ask follow-up questions using information from company policies and live operational data. When the truck leaves, the agent can capture details from the visit, while managers can use Samsara Assistant to analyze patterns such as which sites are creating the longest dwell times.
Across Samsara’s platform, voice has quickly become the dominant way people interact with agents. Within four weeks of launch, voice agents surpassed chat in interaction volume and have led every week since. Among organizations using voice agents, ~75% have increased their weekly usage since they began deploying them — more than half have at least doubled it.
“Start of Day Briefings help us get set for the shift, and two-way audio helps tackle drowsiness in the cab. It gives us the support we need in the moment to stay sharp, stay safe, and become better drivers,” said Tiny Kirby, a driver at Clyde Companies.
From understanding to action — wherever the work happens
For more than a decade, Samsara has built the technology to see and understand physical operations, now collecting more than 30 trillion data points annually from vehicles that traverse 99.9% of U.S. roads. Agents extend that foundation from understanding to action — and increasingly allow people to access Samsara’s operational context without sitting in front of a reporting dashboard.
Samsara’s agentic capabilities now reach people wherever the work happens:
- Samsara Assistant answers questions inside the dashboard and turns them into action. Prebuilt agents cover common safety, maintenance, and compliance work.
- Agent Studio gives teams a builder for custom chat and voice agents specific to their operation, extending AI beyond the dashboard and into the field.
- Samsara MCP, recently launched, carries live Samsara data, under each customer’s existing permissions, into the AI tools their teams already use, including Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot.
Each draws on the same operational context and permission model, whether someone is talking to an agent on the road, working in the Samsara dashboard, or using another AI tool.
“Every day, our customers make thousands of decisions that determine whether people get home safely, deliveries arrive on time, and essential services keep running,” said Brendan O’Driscoll, VP of Platform at Samsara. “Our ambition is to make AI part of how that work gets done — anticipating what needs to happen and coordinating the people, equipment, and systems to act. That’s the future we’re building at Samsara.”
Agent Studio is now available to all Samsara customers. Watch the Agent Studio demo and learn more about the Samsara platform here.
